Artist/Gallery notes
Comments by other artists made in web critique group " Wow! There is so much going on here starting with a strange Grant Wood motif. The woman with the pitch fork seems Wagnarian. Her hat becomes a helmet and the Crescent moon becomes a horn. The spooky devil dog with glowing eyes. The Marc Chagal like dreamscape. The Holy and the profane. The invitation into the Church versus the profane call of the wild. Beautifully painted. Wonderful use of primal symbols." "Check out the placement of the crescent moon on the High Priestess card in the tarot deck. The Minoan Labrys had a similar placement. In that particular concept, the moon, the bull's horn were all emblematic of fertility and were sometimes depicted as a duality." " Really nice , like a Tim Burton Movie Art Work , the Church Before midnight or other. Cool work '' JJ'' Regards BSST" "your garden series with mother nature are my favourite in your gallery here, i think you are aware of the saying opposites attract, well here is a fine example, super one jeremy" "It also reminds me a Chagall, but with a greater sense of humor, and a lot more physical (not emotional weight) Maybe a little more skewed perspective and flying figures is something you could pursue in another work. The small sark figure is one of the most engaging aspects of the painting. For some reason I tell myself not to look, and am instinctively drawn to the figure. On his own however he would not work. It would be too menacing. Placed with the absurd wife, and contrasting the "nerdy" mate, he adds an odd significance to the work. This is great. So much of the work here is so cheesy or just some regurgitation of something done before. This is truly unique and interesting."
