350 kms north of Perth, in Western Australia, is the town of Geraldton, from then on travelling North the landscape is dry and barren. If you turn off the North Western Coastal Highway you come to the isolated seaside town of Kalbarri. This settlement is on the beautiful estuary of the Murchison river. Upstream the river passes into deep and magnificent gorges. This was painted early one morning looking out across the estuary toward the Indian Ocean.
