This is one of a series of three paintings based on adjacent views of the houses along the side of Fishing Boat Harbour in Fremantle, Western Australia. Fremantle is the port city of Perth at the mouth of the Swan river estuary. A series of harbours have been constructed and this one was used by the Americas Cup fleet when Australia was defending the Cup. It is a commercial fishing harbour with traffic passing to and from fishing grounds during the day. I was interested in the patterns of the houses on the hillside and the boats in the water below. All illuminated by a golden sunset at the end of a summer's day.
